Many professional accountants who have taken career breaks want to return to the formal workforce. Returners often want to bring their skills up to date. This page is a dedicated resource highlighting all the resources to support an accountant that has been out of the formal workforce for several years or just for a short period and wants to refresh their professional skills.

Irish companies and particularly accounting practices are actively seeking out finance professionals. They recognise that returners can get back up to speed very quickly.  Government also believe that returners are a solution to the shortage of finance skills and are funding re-training courses for accountants. More information on these courses is included below.

This resource is broken down by the core skills that an accountant needs and includes free on-demand webinars on tax, accounting and IT skills as well as links to additional resources which are available elsewhere from ACCA including career support and information on obtaining a practicing certificate.

Returners are also welcome to use the ACCA advisory service for individual one to one assistance on their journey back to formal work.  Please contact Aidan Clifford, Technical Advisory Services Manager, by email: advisoryireland@accaglobal.com or phone: 01 4988907.
