ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has appointed Shelly-Ann Mohammed as the new head of Caribbean.
Shelly-Ann is an attorney with over ten years of international legal experience. She joins ACCA from the Association of Caribbean Corporate Counsel (ACCC), of which she was President, and provided professional development opportunities to regional attorneys and leveraged institutional influence to secure real results for its members. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Oxford, and a Masters in U.S. Corporate Law from the University of Connecticut.
Speaking on the new country head appointment, Julie Hotchkiss, ACCA’s director of Europe and the Americas said, “I am delighted to welcome Shelly-Ann Mohammed as ACCA’s new head of Caribbean. Shelly-Ann has the stature and influence to represent ACCA Caribbean members at the highest level. Her vast experience and enthusiasm will provide strategic and visionary leadership across the region, further ensuring that our members’ needs are promoted and supported at every turn. I’m confident her appointment will be of great benefit to ACCA as we work to build on our proud history, opening up access to the profession to everyone, regardless of their background or circumstance.”
Commenting on her new role, Shelly-Ann Mohammed said, “I feel incredibly honoured and grateful for the opportunity to lead ACCA’s strategic operations in the Caribbean alongside a talented team.
“Increased regulation, technology and artificial intelligence are some of the key factors disrupting how businesses operate, and changing the basic tenets of leadership development across the region. Businesses must prepare their finance professionals to be strategic business leaders who can steer organisations through these changes.
“I look forward to working closely with our stakeholders, including our students, members, employers, learning providers, universities and local government to achieve these goals.”
Shelly-Ann Mohammed will take up her new role on 2nd July 2018.
