ACCA and Intuit QuickBooks sign MoU

Intuit QuickBooks and ACCA UK (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will help ACCA-qualified accountants embrace and benefit from new developments in technology.

ACCA’s small and medium sized practitioners (SMPs) are trusted advisers to businesses across the country and have identified technology, the development of skills and talent and their own growth strategies as the biggest challenges they currently face.

The MoU will help address these challenges as ACCA and QuickBooks jointly explore how they can support the development of talent, with a particular focus on the technological changes and innovations within businesses and the importance of building networks.

Claire Bennison, head of ACCA UK says: 'Digitalisation alters not just the way accountancy is done, but also the structure and purpose of accountancy firms. For ACCA, it’s important that as a professional body, we listen to the needs of our members – and so this partnership with QuickBooks will enable us to help our SMPs embrace change, transforming how they work with clients and develop their teams.'

The uptake of big data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning within financial management software is shifting the capabilities and speed of the work, optimising the likes of optical recognition, voice search and mobile.  The impact on practices and the pace of this change is staggering; this collaboration will help members take advantage of this moment and, digital advancements, to better serve their clients.

Rob Burlison, Director of Corporate Affairs at Intuit QuickBooks, says: 'I am delighted that we are in partnership with ACCA, specifically about the benefits we can bring. As the global leader in cloud accounting software we feel we’re uniquely placed to offer best in class support, market insight and the most innovative suite of products to the collaboration. As the industry accelerates its transformation and increases its use and adoption of digital, joint ventures like this have never been more vital to help accounting professionals develop and prosper.'
