HMRC turn its attention to horsebox owners

Owners of high-end horseboxes are a new target for HMRC in their march against tax evasion.

HMRC is focusing on horsebox owners as it perceives that certain farmers, rural businesses and equine enthusiasts may be either incorrectly claiming expenditure relating to these high value assets or failing to declare personal use as a benefit in kind.

HMRC are currently in the process of identifying discrepancies between personal and company tax records and also in the process of obtaining information from external third parties.
