ACCA Apprenticeships in England
There are two apprenticeships available in England:
Level 4 - Accounting Technician Apprenticeship
- Ideal for school leavers or entry-level roles.
- Flexibility to add Applied Skills units as part of the offer (depending on Learning partner)
- Customisable with optional ACCA certificates.
- Supports progression to the ACCA Qualification.
- Duration: 18–24 months.
Level 7 - Professional Accountant Apprenticeship
- For those working towards full ACCA membership.
- Covers the Strategic Professional level of the ACCA Qualification.
- Duration: 3–4 years.

ACCA Apprenticeships in Scotland
There are three levels of apprenticeships available in Scotland.
- Foundation apprenticeship (Level 6) - offers senior school pupils during S5 or S6 the opportunity to get an overview of the profession and gain real experience of the world of work while still at school. Can be studied over one or two years.
- Modern apprenticeship (Levels 5-8) - suitable as an entry-level route into ACCA and the accountancy profession. Each level takes around 9 months to complete.
- Graduate apprenticeship (Level 11) - combines a degree and the ACCA qualification and can take up to five years. Two versions are currently available at Robert Gordon University and Glasgow Caledonian University.
ACCA Apprenticeships in Wales
The ACCA apprenticeship in Wales is offered at Level 4. This covers the first part of the ACCA Qualification and gives people the finance and accounting knowledge to help them flourish as an accounting technician or see if they want to progress to chartered certified accountant status.

Funding
For employers in England:
Levy-paying: Use your levy to fund 100% of training and assessment.
Non-levy: Pay only 5% – the government funds the remaining 95%.
Note: From 1 January 2026, Level 7 funding will apply only to students under 22.
For employers in Scotland:
- Modern Apprenticeships: heavily subsidised via Skills Development Scotland.
- Graduate Apprenticeships: funded by Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS).
