The image described is published on our Apprenticeships in Scotland page.
The Scotland Modern Apprenticeship is broken down into Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) Levels 5, 6 and 8. Each level takes around nine months to complete with apprentices being awarded at each level once they complete a technical qualification and skills modules.
Structure
The apprenticeship is made up of three levels:
Level 5 is broadly equivalent to a National 5 where there are two modules to complete:
- Recording Financial Transactions
- Management Information
It then moves on to Level 6, which is broadly equivalent to a Higher, where a further two modules need to be completed:
- Maintaining Financial Records
- Managing Costs and Finance
Finally, there is Level 8 which is broadly equivalent to HND Level or the first year of a degree which is made up of three modules:
- Business and Technology
- Management Accounting
- Financial Accounting Assessment
The apprentice will sit exams for each of the modules. Work-based learning will also need to be recorded and evidenced to show how their skills are developing.
Apprentices are also required to complete the Foundations in Professionalism module as well as core or career skills.
What’s next
From Level 8 of the Modern Apprenticeship, apprentices can choose to go on to do either:
- ACCA SCQF Level 11 Graduate Apprenticeship in Accounting and Finance in Scotland
- The ACCA Qualification.
