• Vernon Walker FCCA

I work for the Transport & Logistics sector for a company whose main activities are 1) delivering horticultural plants to Garden Centres throughout the UK and 2) as part of  a Pallet Network. I became a member of the Sussex panel 7 years ago and am now in my second year as Chair. I originally got involved as there was an acute shortage of panel members in Sussex but have enjoyed interaction with my fellow Sussex panel members organising member networking events and also attending occasional ACCA events in London.

I am more or less retired now having been made redundant three years ago  but as I was in receipt of my pension I have turned my attention to other activities. However, as ACCA qualified I worked in both the public and private sector as an accountant and internal auditor for over 40 years. Having attended Sussex Network events many years ago as a student member and latterly as a qualified accountant my main reason for joining the panel was to have some influence on the events provided for ACCA members in the local area.

  • Deepak Lohur FCCA

I have my own accountancy practice. I got involved as I could see there was not much interest from members to join the panel, an important network in getting all members together, helping them with their CPD requirements etc. I have been an ACCA member for just under 20 years and after such a long time I am keen to be involved with ACCA in being a panel member. Being a panel member helps us to promote ACCA at various organised events, creates awareness and importantly we get to meet other members and have opportunities to share our views.

  • Erika Marsh FCCA

I became a Panel Member to influence the local events that ACCA presents to its members and to take an active part in organising the right events for a cross-section of ACCA members. I am keen to enhance the value members receive from the association and nurture relationships between the ACCA and other accounting bodies. I hope to increase the prestige of the qualification and promote members continuing development.

  • Roberto Merlo FCCA

I have been working in the Travel Sector for the last 11 years. During this time I have held a number of roles in Audit, Finance and recently  Risk Management. I have been attending ACCA events in my area for a number of years before deciding to be more involved with the Association. This has offered the opportunity to contribute to the planning of local events, grow my network of contacts  meeting people with different professional background and giving me a sense of satisfaction of being part of a professional body which I am very proud to be part of.

I work in private practice. My practice services small to medium sized businesses, individuals and trusts. Head office is in Buckinghamshire, with  satellite offices in Herefordshire, Nottinghamshire and Sussex. We  meet all our client’s compliance commitments that they assign to ourselves, deal with  ad hoc projects and advise on various taxation and accounting issues. I joined the Sussex panel following the attendance of an event it had held. I would like to put something back in to my profession. I believe being on a the panel will help develop skills that will be benefit both my professional and personal life.
