Primarily I got involved in the panel as a way of giving back and helping shape the future of ACCA, primarily reflecting on my experiences of being an ACCA student. Being part of the panel helps get a perspective of the local economy from both practice and industry. It has also strengthened my network.

The ACCA events organised by the panel are excellent for building on knowledge gained through exams and for ongoing CPD. The panel members provide a variety of opinions and information from the different sectors they work within.

Being a member of the panel provides a lot of meaningful networking opportunities, allows using my knowledge of the local issues and local agenda in deciding what events might be of interest for my peers. Panel is made of enthusiastic people therefore I always looking forward for these meetings, they allow to develop creative side of me.
Paul O'Donnell ACCA
I am currently employed as the Insolvency Manager at Begbies Traynor's Aberdeen office. I have worked in the Insolvency Sector for around 8 years during which I had a brief spell in Oil and Gas. I joined the Aberdeen Network Panel in order to help expand my network portfolio and to meet with likeminded professionals.
I enjoy working on the panel helping our Network Group organise events which other members hopefully find interesting and worthwhile.
Maryam Sutherland-Khan ACCA
I am currently a lecturer at RGU with core areas of teaching focusing on postgraduate, executive MBA and employability skills whilst my doctoral research focuses on accounting education. I have previously worked in industry (oil and gas) across a range of accounting and finance roles. Having worked alongside ACCA professionals operating in various pockets within the industry,
I joined the panel to help bring our members together in both a learning, and social, forum. My more recent work in HE exposes me to the growth of ACCA beyond traditional accounting students; whilst the accessibility of attaining membership through various entry routes aligns with my philosophy of a learner-centred inclusive approach to (professional) education.
