Overview

Ahead of its UK Public Services Summit 2017, ACCA is running a series of sector-specific webinars in the UK for members working across the public sector, healthcare, charities and education services to position ACCA as leaders and influencers in public sector financial management.

In this webinar you will hear how the NHS Future-Focused Finance initiative has sought to 'make people count' by trying to ensure that everyone connected with NHS finance can influence decision making in support of high-quality patient services since its inception in 2014.

Speaker

David Ellcock, Programme Director at Future-Focused Finance

David is Programme Director for Future-Focused Finance (FFF), a role into which he was appointed in January 2014. FFF is an NHS-wide programme sponsored by NHS England, NHS Improvement, the Department of Health and Health Education England, which aims to improve financial decision making in support of high-quality patient services.  FFF’s work is supported by a wide-ranging network of individuals from within the NHS.

Prior to moving to FFF, David was Manager of the Finance & Informatics Skills Development Network in the North West of England.  While in this role he was instrumental in establishing the joint network between Finance and Informatics, which was the first of its kind across the NHS, and which delivers learning and development opportunities for staff from both professions.

David has worked in the NHS since joining as a graduate in 1988 and is a CIPFA qualified accountant with several years’ experience as a Director of Finance under his belt.  He has long been interested in staff development and has been delighted to have the opportunity to work in various roles in this field since 2006. He is passionate about working to ensure that the finance function in the NHS is the best that it can be.

Outside work, David is heavily involved in hockey at both a national and international level. He is Chair of Selectors for England’s National Programme Umpiring Association; and Chair of the England Hockey Rules & Regulations Advisory Group. He is also an international technical official.  This summer he will be acting as Technical Delegate for the European Hockey Federation at both the Hamburg Masters 4-Nations and the Men’s EuroNations Championships in Glasgow.
