Investor relations professionals provide a company’s existing investors with information about the business’s financial situation and future prospects. This allows the investors to make informed judgments about the value of the business and whether it is being managed correctly. These professionals will also communicate with potential investors, providing insight and information, to allow them to decide whether or not to invest in that company
The investor relations team manages the release of company information (such as financial reports or press releases), handles enquiries and meetings from investors, provides feedback to senior management and handles any crises that result from the release of financial information. Roles in this area integrate skills in finance, communication, marketing, compliance and corporate governance and would include an investor relations manager, risk manager or a sustainability (and sustainability compliance) specialist.
