Coronavirus – an update from ACCA's market directors

As a global organisation, with 219,000 members and 527,000 students including affiliates in 179 countries, we’re monitoring the coronavirus situation very closely. The priority for us is the health and safety of our people, students, members, partners and those connected to ACCA’s worldwide community.

On the 30 January we advised our students based in China that we were cancelling the March exam sittings in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

And yesterday, (13 February), we announced that we are cancelling all March exams in Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR.

These decisions are firmly based on guidance from the Chinese government which is working hard to contain the virus, and other stakeholders such as the British Council.

In other countries, we’re currently planning to run the March exams as scheduled, but of course, we’re keeping this under review too.

Our global crisis management team is assessing the situation, checking official advice from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and feedback from our partners.

We advise students to check their own government’s advice about the situation and look out for any additional updates from ACCA via email or our website, should there be any further developments.

To show our support, we will be making a donation to Hubei Provincial government, and we’ve also reminded our members about The Chartered Certified Accountants’ Benevolent Fund, an independent charity, which is available to help members, former members and their dependants in time of need and in the event of natural disasters.

Our thoughts and best wishes are with all our members and students at this time, and we encourage everyone to keep up to date on developments and share best advice by referring to the World Health Organisation for further information, guidance and status updates:
