In the past, many accountancy firms have been unable to offer Fee Protection to their clients due to minimum order values or because only a few of their clients wish to subscribe. Abbey Tax has resolved this issue with the launch of their new Tax Start scheme which has no minimum order value. All you need to do is invite your clients to subscribe, register those who join (even if it is only one client) and pay Abbey Tax.
Tax Start offers comprehensive protection for your clients and includes cover for aspect enquiries and HMRC's new Schedule 36 'interventions'. You will also receive access, based on the number of clients subscribing to your scheme, to Abbey's extensive Tax & VAT Helpline facility.
There are certain conditions that your practice must meet in order to benefit from Tax Start, one being your charge out rates must not exceed £85 per hour. If you do not meet the criteria for Tax Start, Abbey Tax will be delighted to offer you an alternative fee protection package which will still offer all of the benefits at excellent rates.
ACCA legal service
Members often call ACCA with queries concerning employment and commercial law so ACCA has introduced a legal support service which will provide members with advice and guidance on the wide range of business and personal legal issues. Having carefully evaluated the market for such services we have forged an alliance with FPM Group who can provide legal advice at a very competitively priced annual subscription under their iQ Business banner.
The ACCA Legal Service covers all business issues including employment, health & safety, company law, property, disagreements and personal issues for £95+ VAT per year.
(Practitioners should note that this legal advice line is to help members with their own legal queries and clarification on points of law. The line cannot provide legal advice concerning client queries. There is a high risk that the practitioner will not be in possession of all the facts in relation to the client's query and the legal advice could be incorrect.)
In today's complex business environment every member in practice or in a business will encounter dozens of issues that require professional legal interpretation or guidance.
This can prove prohibitively expensive if you have to consult local lawyers who charge for every minute they spend on your issue. Now there's no need to be reluctant to get professional advice; with the ACCA Legal Service there are no time based charges - it's all part of the one off annual fee for the service.
The Legal Service
The Service is available 24 hours, 7 days a week and it's an unrestricted service so you can call as often as you like, for as long as you need. With unlimited access it's the sensible way to administrate the law in your organisation.
iQ's Legal Service team of over 50 commercially experienced lawyers and barristers will explain complex legal matters in everyday language and are fully conversant with the latest legal developments to ensure you receive the best possible advice. When evaluating the various potential suppliers ACCA was particularly impressed with the experience of the IQ team.
When you subscribe to this service your organisation will be supplied with an ID card and allocated a unique reference code to quote using the service. Following specific confidential advice over the phone, if requested, issues are confirmed in writing or factsheet. The team are also able to review documents for you if requested. The following issues are amongst those covered:
- health & safety
- contract disputes
- property problems
- copyright and intellectual property
- professional negligence
- planning law
- data protection
- labelling requirements
- product liability
- disagreements with customers and suppliers
- company formation
- company law
- accidents and injuries
- business motoring problems
- tenancy disputes
- restraint of trade statutory licences
- e-commerce and internet
- immigration law.
All issues are treated in the strictest confidence as all our lawyers operate under The Law Society Code of Ethics.
The ACCA Legal Service costs just £95 + VAT per year.
