Your starting point depends on your current educational background. Choosing the right path within the ACCA Qualification can save time and help you avoid repeating subjects unnecessarily.
Deciding to pursue the ACCA Qualification is a major career milestone. However, for many students in Egypt, the first few steps can feel more daunting than the exams themselves. Questions like “Where do I begin?”, “Am I eligible for exemptions?”, and “Do I need a study centre immediately?” are common as you navigate the professional landscape.
This guide provides a practical, step-by-step roadmap tailored specifically for the Egyptian market in 2026, helping you move forward with confidence and clarity.
Step 1: Identify your entry point
- School leavers
- Graduates of a related subject
- Graduates of a unrelated subject
- Working professionals
If you have completed Thanaweya Amma or Thanaweya Azhariya with strong results in English and maths, you can usually register directly for the ACCA Qualification and start at the first level, Applied Knowledge. If you have not completed secondary education or an equivalent qualification, or you do not meet the English and maths requirements, you will need to start with Foundations in Accountancy before progressing to the ACCA Qualification.
If you hold a university degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related discipline, you can usually register directly for the ACCA Qualification and may be eligible for a number of exemptions. In some cases, graduates with highly relevant degrees may be exempt from the first two levels of the ACCA Qualification and only need to complete the Strategic Professional level.
If you hold a university degree in a non-accounting or non-finance subject, you can usually register directly for the ACCA Qualification and will typically start at the first level, Applied Knowledge. If you are eligible for any exemptions, these are usually limited to the earliest exams of the ACCA Qualification.
If you’re already working, you can still start the ACCA Qualification at any stage of your career. Your entry point will be based on your academic background, and ACCA will confirm the most suitable starting level after reviewing your qualifications.
Pro tip!
Check the minimum entry criteria and use our exemptions calculator to understand the level you are most likely to join the ACCA Qualification at and how fast you could progress.
Step 2. Register
Registration makes you an official ACCA student. This process is handled directly through the ACCA Global website, not through local tuition providers.
Step 5: Booking your first exam (the ‘first paper’ rule)
To avoid the “overload” trap, we recommend starting with a focused approach.
