What is ACCA?

ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is a globally recognised professional accounting body offering qualifications across accounting, finance, performance, ethics, and leadership. Our most recognised awards are the ACCA Qualification, Foundations in Accountancy (FIA), and the Diploma in International Financial Reporting (DipIFR).

The ACCA Qualification leads to full membership and chartered certified status, opening doors to a wide range of careers in accounting and finance. FIA provides an entry route for those not yet meeting the ACCA requirements, while DipIFR is a standalone diploma for specialists in international financial reporting.

Why ACCA?

  1. 01 Global recognition

ACCA is recognised in over 180 countries.

  2. 02 Employer demand

We're respected by employers across every sector in Egypt.

  3. 03 Flexibility

With ACCA, you can learn at your own pace – full-time or part-time – around your work and life commitments.

  4. 04 Open to everyone

We offer multiple entry points based on your prior education, so there’s a pathway for everyone.

  5. 05 Future-proofed careers

Our qualifications are designed to support long-term career progression.

What is DipIFR – and is it right for you?

DipIFR (Diploma in International Financial Reporting) is a specialised accounting qualification designed for professionals who want deep, practical expertise in IFRS standards.

It is particularly suited for:

  • Accountants and finance professionals working with IFRS-based reporting
  • Auditors, analysts, and consultants dealing with international financial statements
  • ACCA students or graduates who want to strengthen their IFRS capability
  • Professionals seeking targeted upskilling without committing to a full qualification

How does DipIFR differ from the ACCA Qualification?

DipIFR sharpens your expertise in international financial reporting, equipping you with specialised skills in a critical area of finance. The ACCA Qualification, by contrast, takes a broader approach, preparing you for a wide range of rewarding careers across accounting and finance.

How are ACCA Qualification exams structured?

The ACCA Qualification is structured across three progressive levels:

  1. Applied Knowledge – building core accounting, finance, and business skills
  2. Applied Skills – developing technical expertise across key financial disciplines
  3. Strategic Professional – advanced strategic, leadership, and professional skills

If you don’t yet meet the minimum entrance criteria for the ACCA Qualification (typically a General Secondary School Certificate or equivalent), you can still start your ACCA journey with Foundations in Accountancy (FIA). This flexible entry route is designed to support learners at all stages, helping you build strong accounting knowledge and practical skills before progressing smoothly onto the full ACCA Qualification.

Most students complete the full ACCA Qualification in 3 to 4 years, though the timeline can vary depending on prior exemptions, whether you study full-time or part-time, and how many hours you can commit to your studies.

Additional requirements:

  • Ethics & Professional Skills Module (EPSM)
  • Practical Experience Requirement (PER)

How can I get started with ACCA in Egypt?

Whether you’re just starting out, at university, or thinking about a career change, ACCA offers entry routes tailored to your situation.

Many students in Egypt say the hardest part is knowing where to start, how to study, and how to pass. The good news? Once you understand your options, the path becomes clear.

If you have achieved your General Secondary School Certificate, you can register directly for the ACCA Qualification. If you haven't, you can start earlier with our Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) qualifications.

Once completed, FIA allows you to progress straight to the ACCA Qualification and bypass the first level, which includes three exams. You will therefore join the ACCA Qualification at the Applied Skills level.

Check your eligibility for the ACCA Qualification

You will typically enter the ACCA Qualification at the Applied Skills or Strategic Professional level, depending on how closely your degree aligns with the ACCA Qualification syllabus. Use our exemptions calculator to see which exam exemptions may apply to your degree.

You will usually start at the first level of the ACCA Qualification. However, graduates from business-related degrees may be eligible for some exemptions. Use our exemptions calculator to discover if we grant exam exemptions for your business-related degree.

Exemptions are only awarded for academic qualifications, so work experience alone does not provide exam exemptions. However, your professional experience will be a real advantage, and many professionals find they progress more confidently and quickly through the qualification as a result. Whether you start with Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) or the ACCA Qualification will depend on whether you have achieved your secondary school certificate.

The ACCA Qualification will change in 2027

The ACCA Qualification is regularly updated to meet the needs of a changing global business environment – keeping members future-ready. These updates affect exam structure only and do not impact how you start your ACCA journey, choose tuition, or prepare for exams.
