The webinar is one of the events of ACCA Hong Kong Tax Updates Series 2023. A bundle package price will be offered to participants enrolling the whole series with four webinars in total.

About the Event

The foreign-sourced income exemption (FSIE) regime in Hong Kong that applies to foreign-sourced interest, dividends, equity disposal gains and income from use of intellectual properties became effective on 1 January 2023. As a result of the European Union updating its guidance on FSIE regimes in late 2022, Hong Kong has committed to expanding the scope of the existing FSIE regime to cover foreign-sourced gains on disposal of all types of assets (other than shares and equity interests). The expanded FSIE regime is expected to take effective from 1 January 2024.

The webinar covers the following:

  1. Recap of the existing FSIE regime and observations on its practical application
  2. Overview of the proposed changes to the existing FSIE regime in Hong Kong
  3. The proposed taxation of foreign asset disposal gains in Singapore

Speakers:

  • Anita Tsang, FCCA, Director, Tax Policy and Knowledge Management, KPMG China
  • Alan Lau, Senior Manager, Tax Policy and Knowledge Management, KPMG China
