ACCA Qualification recognition

Australia and New Zealand present unique opportunities for ACCA members, though establishing your career requires strategic planning. The market is dominated by two major accounting bodies: Chartered Accountants ANZ (ACCA's strategic partner) and CPA Australia.

  • CA ANZ Partnership: ACCA members in good standing with 5+ years post-qualification experience can obtain CA ANZ membership while residing in Australia or New Zealand.
  • Public Practice Requirements: Registration with the Tax Practitioners Board is mandatory for signing off accounts in public practice.

Kaplan postgraduate qualification

  • Exemptions for ACCA students, affiliates and members

    Kaplan Professional is a leading Australian provider of qualifications in applied finance and financial planning. They form part of a global network of Kaplan businesses specialising in education and continuing education for finance professionals.

    Subject credit for ACCA students, affiliates and members

    As an ACCA student, affiliate or member, you are eligible to gain exemption from Kaplan Professional's core financial unit, FIN113-Techniques in Financial Analysis as long as you have completed or have been exempt from part or all of the Fundamental level (must include F7 Financial Reporting) of the ACCA Qualification.

    This subject credit can be used towards any of Kaplan’s four prestigious postgraduate qualifications:

    1. Master of Applied Finance
    2. Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance
    3. Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance
    4. Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning

    Kaplan’s finance courses are designed and delivered by practising professionals from many of Australia’s most respected financial institutions. All four qualifications can be studied by distance and are supported by downloadable lectures, eBooks for postgraduate students and sophisticated online support.   • How do I obtain a CA ANZ membership?

    Step 1: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Member body Membership Pre-Qualifications

    • You must be a current full member in good standing of the ACCA
    • You must have gained membership through the standard examination pathway
    • You must have been a full ACCA member for at least 5 years

    Step 2: Apply for Special Admission to full CA ANZ Membership

    Access and complete the application form available on the CA ANZ website.

  • Can I continue to study ACCA in Australia and New Zealand?

    Yes, you can certainly continue your studies towards the ACCA Qualification while you are residing in Australia.

    ACCA has partnered up with major universities in Australia and New Zealand to provide you with face to face study options, these are available at Macquarie University, Griffith University and Deakin University. Contact us to request a list of testing locations within the ANZ.

    If you are applying for a full (permanent) skills assessment, you will need:

    • an Australian Bachelor degree or 12 unit accredited Australian Master degree; or 
    • an overseas qualification comparable to at least the level of an Australian Bachelor degree to have successfully completed all mandatory competency areas that are relevant to your nominated occupation to provide evidence that you have met the English language proficiency requirement.

    Provisional skills assessment criteria

    If you are applying for a provisional (Subclass 485 visa) skills assessment, you will need:
