Becoming a member is a fantastic achievement – and one that most accountants carry with them throughout their professional lives.

To remain on the register, you'll need to pay your annual subscription in full and meet your CPD requirements each year. If either condition isn't met, you may be removed from the register in line our membership regulations, which would mean that you'd no longer have the right to use the ACCA or FCCA letters after your name.

If you are removed from the register, you can apply for readmission.

How to apply for readmission to ACCA membership

You can apply for readmission via your MyACCA portal. You must also complete a CPD declaration.

*If you have been removed from the register on previous occasions, you will be required to pay fees for the additional years you were off the register. For more information, please contact our Assessment and Investigation team at complaintassessment@accaglobal.com.

Please note that your application will be heard by ACCA’s Admissions and Licencing committee, who will decide if you are eligible to be readmitted to membership. ACCA cannot guarantee that you will be granted readmission.

  • I work in public practice – is there anything extra I need to do to apply for readmission?

If you’re applying to return to the register and are in public practice (full-time or spare-time) you may need to supply additional information with the readmission form.

If you’re the principal of a firm in a designated territory or in a country of jurisdiction that, according to local legislative and/or regulatory requirements, requires an ACCA practising certificate, must submit an application for a practising certificate with the readmission form.

For those in countries where an ACCA practising certificate is not required, you must notify us and confirm that you’ve complied with any local legislative and/or regulatory requirements to be eligible to carry on public practice.

  • What happens if my eligibility for readmission or membership is questioned?

Certain applications cannot be processed through the standard route and must be reviewed by the Admissions and Licensing Committee. This applies in the following situations:

    • Your exemption application was based on false documents – if documents submitted in support of an exemptions application were false or misleading, your eligibility for readmission will be referred to the Committee for review.
    • You are disclosing a matter that may affect your eligibility – if you are applying for ACCA membership and need to declare something that raises questions about your suitability, such as a criminal conviction, your application must be considered by the Committee.

Follow the steps on your MyACCA portal to apply for readmission.

  • Will being removed from the register affect my progress towards Fellowship?

Yes. Fellowship (FCCA) requires five years of continuous ACCA membership. If you are removed from the register before achieving Fellowship, this continuity is broken and the five-year period resets from the date you are readmitted, in line with ACCA Members Regulations (section 4)

  • What happens to my ACCA membership when I retire?

If you're approaching retirement or have already retired, you may be eligible for lifetime membership – available to all Fellows (FCCA) who are permanently retired from work or business. Lifetime members pay no annual subscription and continue to enjoy a range of benefits.
