Additional supporting information

We want your transition to membership to be as smooth as possible but you may be asked to provide additional information to support your application if you have the following types of experience:

  • Lecturing experience

You can include up to 12 months’ lecturing experience. This must be at a level at least equivalent to the Applied Skills exams and covering accounting, business studies and finance-related subjects.

Please provide details of the subjects and level taught with your application.

  • Part-time experience

You can gain experience working on a part-time basis or in a role where your job includes only some accountancy and finance work.

When you record your employment details in MyExperience you will be asked to provide details about your role, including the number of hours you work and the percentage of your time spent on accounting or finance related tasks. The tool will use this information to calculate the amount of time you can count towards the 36 months' requirement - so please ensure this is recorded correctly.

For example, if you only spend 50% of your working time on accounting and finance tasks you can still use this experience towards your PER, you'll just accrue time more slowly. So in this example you would gain six months PER in a 12 month period.

  • Public practice

If you work in public practice and sign or produce any accounts, reports, certificates or tax returns concerning any person's or organisation’s financial affairs that may be relied upon by a third party, please include details of your current job description with your application.

Reviewing your application

We’ll check your application and ask you to fill in any gaps so please ensure you keep your records are up to date.

  • Have you recorded all your PER?

We need to know that you've achieved at least 36 months’ relevant experience and that you've completed the required performance objectives - all 5 Essentials and 4 Technical.

So be sure to keep your My Experience record up to date and get your time signed off by your practical experience supervisor when you leave an employer or reach 36 months.

  • Do you work for an Approved Employer?

If you work for an ACCA Approved Employer holding trainee development approval at Gold or Platinum level, then they may allow you to claim a performance objective exemption. This means that you do not need to document completing the performance objectives in MyExperience.

However, it is important to confirm that your employer has this level of approval and whether they want to allow you to claim the performance objective exemption.

If you qualify for the exemption, you will still need to achieve 36 months' experience and record this in MyExperience.

  • Have you complete the Ethics module?

Ethics is vitally important to our profession, which is why we insist on you completing our Ethics and Professional Skills module (EPSM) before becoming a member.

The EPSM is not mandatory if you have previously complete the Professional Ethics Module (PEM).

  • Do you have any outstanding fees?

Please make sure that your balance is up to date. We can’t invite you to become a member while your account is showing a debit balance greater than your current year’s annual subscription.

The simplest and quickest way to pay your fees is online, is via myACCA

Although there are other options if you prefer. View details of all the payment methods available.

  • You may be selected for a PER Audit

To quality assure the PER process and protect the integrity of the ACCA Qualification we conduct PER audits, which review the practical experience you've attained for membership.

We’ll let you know if you’re selected for a PER audit as this may delay your ACCA membership application.

We’re committed to helping you achieve your membership goal. If you have any further questions about PER or membership generally, please contact us.
