ACCA and Mongolian Institute of Certified Public Accountants renew and extend strategic partnership
In a boost to the Eurasia accountancy profession and economy Mongolia’s leading national accounting body and the leading global accountancy body have extended their wide-ranging co-operation deal,
One key element of the agreement – which was renewed in mid-May 2025 – is to provide pathways for members of one body to achieve membership of the other entity. ACCA and MonICPA say they want to work together to realise potential for mutual exemptions for members who want to achieve the other’s Qualification.
The deal – which is set to run for five years – puts a particular emphasis on developing the public sector in Mongolia. This will require the expertise and experience of both bodies and will include the joint promotion of ACCA’s Public Financial Management (PFM) and International Public Sector Standards (IPSAS) qualifications. The bodies will work together to engage with donor agencies to support the public sector development.
Donor funded opportunities will also focus on the role and certification of accounting technicians aimed at strengthening the Mongolian accountancy profession. And the two bodies have also pledged to explore other donor opportunities and initiatives.
Zhanna Iskenova, Head of ACCA Central Asia, Mongolia, Armenia said: ‘It is so encouraging to witness the renewal of this partnership. ACCA and MonICPA share a common strong interest in the advancement of the accountancy profession in Mongolia especially in strengthening professional capacity and building accountancy infrastructure in the country. I look forward to working with colleagues in ACCA and MonICPA in achieving our mutual aims.’
ACCA has also pledged to share its research, Professional Insights, and both parties say they want to explore collaborative research opportunities with a view to undertaking joint initiatives and publications.
Baasandorj Oyunbaatar, MonICPA CEO, said: ‘MonICPA is committed to carry on the excellent work we have already achieved with ACCA. At its heart this relationship promotes the highest profession, ethical and governance standards and by doing that clearly advances the public interest. We are keenly interested in co-operating with ACCA on professional training education and examinations.’
This renewed agreement marks a significant milestone in deepening international collaboration and ensuring Mongolia’s accountancy profession is equipped to meet global standards. By combining global expertise with local leadership, ACCA and MonICPA are laying the foundation for a more transparent, accountable, and future-ready financial ecosystem in Mongolia and beyond.
