My professional journey spans over a decade and began in translation and education before I transitioned into financial services. I worked at Reyl Group in Luxembourg and later at Intertrust in London, focusing on corporate and fund accounting. Eventually, I moved into Operations at Castlelake L.P., where I supported investment transactions and asset management. Today, I serve as Finance/Operations AVP at Blackstone Europe LLP.

My decision to switch from translation and education to financial services came from the exposure I had to finance during my time at Reyl. There, I interacted with highly motivated and ambitious professionals who inspired me to pursue my ACCA qualification. This diverse career path, combined with my academic foundation and multilingual skills, reflects my adaptability and drive to succeed in the global finance industry.

I currently lead the Blackstone Real Estate Debt Strategies (BREDS) European finance team in London as Finance/Operations AVP. My role is dynamic and multifaceted, focusing on financial and operational controls throughout the investment lifecycle. I execute new loan investments, oversee capital market transactions, collaborate with tax and legal teams to establish new funds, and ensure efficient operational structures.

I also manage relationships with banks, vendors, and external teams, and I’m responsible for optimizing tools and processes—such as automating systems to improve efficiency. What makes this work rewarding is the combination of financial strategy, operational excellence, and collaboration, all while navigating the complexities of real estate debt and investment management.

"The biggest challenges are navigating complexity, constant change, and uncertainty around AI. These require strong operational controls, risk management, system optimization, and compliance. I’ve responded by leading initiatives to automate processes and improve systems through IT innovations, which enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting. My role also involves ensuring compliance with external debt covenants, conducting systematic portfolio analysis, and resolving financial and operational issues in transactions."

One of the biggest challenges in alternative asset finance is navigating the real estate market amid rising interest rates, tightening credit conditions, and evolving regulatory requirements. These factors affect deal structuring, asset valuations, and liquidity planning.

To support stakeholders, we provide accurate, timely financial analysis and scenario modeling to assess risks and returns. We ensure transparent reporting to investors, maintain rigorous compliance with lending covenants, and work closely with deal teams to optimize capital deployment. By combining sector expertise with robust financial controls, we help stakeholders make informed decisions and protect long-term value.

Outside of work, physical exercise is essential for my balance and well-being—it boosts my physical, emotional, and cognitive energy. I enjoy Pilates, running, yoga, and tennis, which keep me energized and composed. Beyond fitness, I’m passionate about personal development and community engagement. I actively participate in women’s associations like 100 Women in Finance, which empower women in the industry. I also volunteer with SmartWorks and serve as Deputy Treasurer for the National Child Trust’s Havering Branch.

Spending time with my family is a priority—whether at home in London, in Spain, or traveling the world. And I’d love to carve out more time to read, especially non-fiction books.

If I could offer one piece of advice to other finance professionals, it would be to be bold and embrace change as an opportunity, not a threat. The finance sector is constantly evolving, and stepping outside your comfort zone helps you gain valuable skills, perspectives, and resilience. Whether it’s adopting new technology, exploring a different area of the business, or taking on a challenging project, embracing change will keep you adaptable and ahead of the curve.
