ACCA is committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to benefit from suitable exam conditions whilst protecting the integrity of the examination process.
Requests for additional support will be considered in accordance with the UK Equality Act 2010. Reasonable adjustments may be made where a disabled person or a person who has suffered accidental injury or acute illness, whether it be short or long term, would be at a substantial disadvantage in taking an examination. An adjustment may not be considered reasonable if it involves unreasonable costs, timeframes or affects the security or integrity of the examination. In line with the Act, disability includes people who have:
The nature of these adjustments will vary in terms of the type and extent of the candidate’s difficulty or disability, and will be aimed at ensuring no candidate is disadvantaged in their examinations by virtue of their disability or additional requirement.
To help all candidates demonstrate their competence in the disciplines being assessed in our examinations, each request will be considered on an individual basis by our experienced team.
In addition, ACCA works with a number of external agencies to ensure our awareness and assessment capability is both relevant and up to date, allowing us to make adjustments that are both appropriate and work in the best interests of our students.
Such requests must be submitted to ACCA by the standard entry closing date, except in the case of accidental injury or acute illness, when it should be submitted as soon as possible after the event. Please note that, if your request is received after these dates, it may not be possible to process it in time for you to sit your examinations at that session.
If you require such support, please notify the exams department by raising a request on the Additional Support Portal (access via the Disability Support link on the MyACCA page). To allow us to fully consider your request, supporting documentary medical evidence must also be submitted by the standard entry closing date.
If you notified us regarding your disability during your Initial Registration we should already have a record of your requirements.
