Protecting the client money that solicitors hold
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has launched a consultation as part of the next phase of their Consumer Protection Review, focusing on key potential changes to the regulatory regime to strengthen protections for the money consumers deposit with professional firms.
This consultation sets out the SRA’s proposals to strengthen the accountants’ reports regime. The proposals aim to improve transparency and provide better assurance of compliance by requiring the submission of all qualified and unqualified accountants' reports, firm declarations, and direct report submission to the SRA by reporting accountants.
The consultation will close at 12pm on Friday 20 February 2026.
Feedback from members is welcomed to help shape the final requirements.
Members can send any comments directly to the SRA by completing the consultation online response or send comments to ACCA at UKPolicy@accaglobal.com.
