You are invited to input into ACCA UK's SME Tracker research, which gathers insight from practitioners on key issues and government policy measures affecting your business and clients.

Our research aims to uncover gaps in policy support and develop our asks to government advocate for better policy making. Through previous feedback on policy issues, ACCA and members have:

• successfully advocated for the self-assessment tax deadline to be pushed back
• prompted the development and design of the Bounce Back Loan Scheme
• advocated for greater flexibility in the tax system during the pandemic.

Respond to the Business Rates consultation

ACCA will be responding to the current consultation on reform of the business rates system, which will affect all businesses that occupy commercial property. We want to hear from members about what your priorities are for rates reform; you can share your views through this survey.

The review makes proposals around:

• the government's conclusion following a consultation that a more sustainable three-yearly revaluation cycle would better reflect changes in the property market and respond to economic cycles – taxpayers will need to submit property information in line with this new cycle
• bringing forward a new relief to support businesses that want to invest in their premises to make them be more efficient and work better
• support for investment in green plant and machinery
• other administrative changes to local authority reliefs and grants.
