Director Clarence Chua leads the Professional Services cluster and Japan and Korea Desk at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). He graduated from the University of Tokyo with a Bachelor (Gakushi) of Economics and worked in EDB’s international policies and electronics divisions. From 2008 to 2013, Clarence was based in Japan. He was first appointed as First Secretary (Industry) at the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Japan and then Consul at the Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore in Osaka. Subsequently, Clarence became the Counsellor (Industry) at the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Tokyo, leading EDB’s operations in Japan as Regional Director. Upon his return to Singapore in 2013, Clarence was appointed as Director for EDB’s Corporate Planning division which oversees EDB’s performance as Singapore’s lead economic development agency. With effect from October 2015, he took on the role of leading the Professional Services cluster. He is concurrently Director Japan and Korea desk, overseeing Singapore’s economic relationship with Japan and Korea.

Tek Yew is Head of KPMG in Singapore’s Financial Services Advisory practice, where he leads engagements with clients on areas such as digital transformation and customer growth strategies.
Prior to KPMG, Tek Yew set up a venture accelerator programme which incubated technology start-ups during the dotcom era, and headed the financial services practice across Greater China and South East Asia for another Big 4 firm. He also held roles of Vice President / Head of Hewlett Packard’s (HP) Consulting & Integration business across Asia Pacific, where he was responsible for HP’s innovation center in Singapore.
In 2014, Tek Yew became Executive Director of Majuven, a venture capital firm in Singapore which invests in high growth Asian technology companies and today, remains as a Venture Partner there to assist in mentoring some of their start-ups. Majuven focuses on Sustainability Technology, Medtech and Digital Disruption.

Robert Yap is the Executive Chairman of YCH Group, Singapore’s leading end-to-end supply chain management company with operations spanning across Asia Pacific. Over the last four decades, Robert has played a pivotal role in the logistics and supply chain management field. Robert is the Founder and Chairman of leading information technology and supply chain solutions company Y3 Technologies, Chairman of corporate venture fund Supply Chain Angels, Founder and Chairman of Supply Chain City® –Asia’s premiersupply chain nerve centre for supply chain excellence, and Chairman of Supply Chain Asia –a regional community of more than 45,000 industry professionals.
In 2016, Robert was named ‘Businessman of the Year’ at the prestigious Singapore Business Awards. He was conferred the NUS Business School Eminent Business (Senior) Alumni Award in 2014 and the Lifetime Achievement Award (Logistics) by the World Chinese Economic Forum in 2013. Recognised for his visionary leadership, Robert contributes as an advisor on numerous local and international platforms. For his contribution, he was awarded the Public Service Medal. Robert is President of the Singapore National Employers Federation, Deputy Chairman of IE Singapore, and the Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council(2018). He contributes to the Joint Implementation Committee overseeing the Government-to-Government project in Chongqing, the Future Economy Council (FEC) and the Payments Council. Robert has a Bachelor of Business Administration from theNational University of Singapore and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D), honoris causa, in Business Administration from the Wisconsin International University. He is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School Owner President Management (OPM 21) program. From 2009 to 2012, he was also appointed as Honorary Adjunct Professor by the College of Business, City University of Hong Kong.

Helen Brand OBE is chief executive of ACCA, the global body for professional accountants, a post she has held since 2008.
Helen has built her career within professional bodies and has considerable experience and knowledge of the 178 markets in which ACCA currently operates. She has worked closely with IFAC (the International Federation of Accountants) in an advisory capacity over many years. Besides being a London Honorary Advisory Board member of the Women’s Executive Network (WXN), she is also a founding member, and currently a Board member of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC.
One of the few women to lead a global professional body, Helen is a passionate advocate for how the role of ethics and the delivery of public value play in business and society, steering ACCA to become the first international professional body to publish an integrated report on its performance in 2011. She has also driven ACCA’s pioneering work in developing the profession across Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Helen was appointed an officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in June 2011 for services to accountancy.

Joseph Alfred is the Head of Policy & Technical at ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Singapore. In this role, he is responsible for the formulation of policies, development and implementation of Professional Insights initiatives to drive ACCA’s public value mission and brand objectives; and ensure ACCA members, regulators and other stakeholders are updated on ACCA’s global technical policies. He works closely with stakeholders and organisations to identify opportunities where ACCA can contribute to the agenda in relation to accounting and business in Singapore, as well as ASEAN. He is a Fellow of ACCA, Fellow Chartered Accountant of Singapore; and holds an MBA from the University of Strathclye.

With more than 18 years’ experience of auditing central government bodies, she has both UK and international experience of engaging extensively across the audit and accounting profession.She has been a member of various influential working groups and committees, including the FEE Public Sector Working Group, the EU European Public Sector Accounting Standards (EPSAS) Working Group, HM Treasury’s Financial Reporting Advisory Board in the UK and the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) Audit and Assurance Council.Prior to joining ACCA, Maggie worked for PwC in Advanced Regulatory and Compliance Analytics, applying specialist analytics tools to clients in the banking and capital markets sector.

The 20th World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) is a momentous event for the global accountancy profession. The international accounting conference represents a chance to engage with visionaries and leaders and to bring your own expertise to the world stage. It only occurs every four years and the next one will be in Sydney, Australia in November 2018.
