4. On exam day

We'd like your exam day to go as smoothly as possible. To give yourself the best chance of a successful exam experience, please follow our exam day related guidance we've provided below.

Before check-in

Download the software

You should have downloaded both ACCA's exam software and ProctorU's remote invigilation software. Information on these steps can be found on our Exam preparation page

Make sure your exam environment meets the exam regulations

These include taking your exam in a private well-lit room for the full duration of the exam and only having items on your desk/workspace which are allowed. Remember, if you breach any of the exam regulations this may result in your exam being terminated so it's important to read through these in advance.

Check the exam regulations and guidelines

Have photographic ID at the ready

You will need to present your ID as proof of your identity in order to take the exam.  The following forms of ID are accepted:

Close down all other applications

Other non exam-related applications running in the background are prohibited and risk interefering with the successful running of the exam. You can close these, by accessing Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and ending these tasks.

During the check-in process

The check-in and greeting process should take approximately 10 minutes. This time is not subtracted from the time you’re allowed in your exam.

Check-in instructuctions

  1. Log into your ProctorU account 2-3 minutes before your scheduled appointment and click Start Session when the countdown timer reaches 0:00:00.
  2. Your browser will prompt you to share your screen so that you can be remotely invigilated. You will guided through a series of equipment checks to make sure your system meets the minumum requirements.
  3. You will be asked to take a photo of yourself and of your photographic ID so that your identity can verified by the invigilator.
  4. You will be prompted to download and a run a LogMeIn Rescue applet file that will bring up a chat box allowing you to interact with your invigilator during the exam. If prompted please click 'open' or 'allow the give the file permission to run. When the chat box says 'waiting' it means that you are in the queue waiting for your invigilator (please do not re-download the applet file during waiting status as this will place you at the end of the queue).

Invigilator greeting and exam security checks

Once you have carried out these check-in steps the invigilator will then greet you and then complete verification checks required to ensure you meet and accept the regulations, guidelines and terms and conditions of the exam.

During this process the invigilator will ask to take control of your mouse and keyboard in order to ensure your device to ensure no unauthorised applications are running on your device and will close any that should be open. You will be able to see everything that the invigilator is doing whilst this is being carried out.

Once the invigilator has carried out these checks they will return control of your device back you and you will be able to start your exam when you are ready.
