How to apply to become an ACCA student

Young person in bright, blurred urban setting

If you’ve made the decision to start studying ACCA, all you need to do is complete the application form.

Here’s how to get started…

How do I apply?

Applying online is the quickest and easiest way to register with ACCA. It takes around 10 minutes, and you don’t need to complete it in one go. Your application is saved for 60 days, so you can return to it when you’re ready.

Have you received an invitation to register?

If your learning provider or employer has sent you an invitation to register email, use the link in the email to start your application.

This is important because the invitation may contain registration details or a code that needs to be linked to your application.

Connect with your learning provider or employer when you apply

If your employer or learning provider has invited you to register, use the link in their email when you apply. This connects your ACCA account with your organisation so they can support you from day one.

What supporting documents do I need to apply?

The documents you need depend on the qualification you’re applying for.

Foundation level qualifications

You’ll need:

  • proof of identity, such as a passport, driving licence or birth certificate

ACCA Qualification

  • proof of identity, such as a passport, driving licence or birth certificate
  • evidence of your existing qualifications, such as award certificates, to check you meet the entry requirements

Copies are all we need – don’t send original documents.

What if my documents aren’t in English?

You’ll need to provide an official translation alongside a copy of the original document. The translation must be carried out and stamped by a licensed translator.

I'm proud to be an ACCA member because the qualification is hugely respected. Your opinion is valued simply because people know you are ACCA qualified.

What are exemptions and how do I claim them?

If you already have relevant qualifications then you may not need to sit some of our exams. This is known as ‘exemption’ from an exam.

If you think you might be entitled to exemptions, you should let us know during the application process. Simply enter your qualification details when you apply.

If you’re eligible, we’ll charge you a fee for each exemption you’re awarded. This will vary depending on the exam.

What happens after I submit my application?

Once you’ve applied and paid you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know we’re processing your application. If we have everything we need you’ll receive confirmation of your student status within five working days.

And, if we need any more details to process your application, we'll call or email you.
