Martin Brennan - CEO and Founder of Onside Accounting - explains why he entered the 2024 Accounting Excellence Awards

We were really proud to win the New Firm of the Year category at the Accounting Excellence Awards in 2024, and entering was a great decision for us.
Our main motivation was to get recognition for the hard work our team put in. We had a huge year in 2023, tripling in size both in revenue and staff numbers, and we felt it was the right time to showcase the success we achieved.
Entering the awards was also a key part of our brand strategy. We wanted to build awareness, to attract new clients and new staff members. Being recognised at this level reinforces our credibility in a very competitive market.
One of the things that made us confident in our entry was our approach to home working. While many firms still struggle with hybrid models, we’ve made fully remote working a success, and we saw this as a strong angle to stand out from the crowd. The judges highlighted this as a key factor in their comments.
Of course, there were also the broader marketing benefits. Winning an industry-recognised award helps with visibility, trust, and positioning in the market, and it’s been a great talking point with clients and prospects.
