Making a notification
If you've made a mistake in your work — for example in calculations, tax advice or financial recommendations — and a client has suffered a financial loss as a result, it's important to let your insurer know as soon as possible. Professional indemnity insurance can help with legal costs, defence expenses and any compensation that may be due if a claim is made against you.
Professional indemnity policies can typically respond to matters such as:
• Alleged breaches of professional duty
• Breaches of confidentiality
• Defamation claims
• Dishonest acts by employees
• Copyright infringement
• Lost or misplaced documents
Need to notify a claim?
If you're concerned about a potential claim or have received a complaint from a client, contact your insurer's claims team as soon as possible. Early notification can help ensure you receive the appropriate support and guidance.
You can find the relevant contact details, opening hours and notification requirements in your policy documentation
