Students who have already completed FM and/or PM who go on to complete the BSc programme will not receive exemptions on completion of the university modules (as not needed) and thus will complete the relevant modules with University of London for university purposes only.

Do students need to complete the EPSM to be eligible for the BSc or is it part of the BSc itself?

No. EPSM completion is not required as part of the eligibility criteria nor does it need to be completed as part of the BSc programme.

However, you will still be able to purchase/work through EPSM whilst on the programme or on completion of the BSc programme. We would recommend students complete EPSM ahead of starting any Strategic Professional exams (if applicable).

Teaching, assessment and fees FAQs

What is the structure of the BSc?

The programme requires students to complete two 30-credit points modules and a 60-credit point Project Module.

The two 30-credit modules are aligned to ACCA’s Financial Management (FM) and Performance Management (PM) exams. These modules provide students with exemptions for the FM and PM exams on the ACCA qualification, meaning that on completion, students are able to progress onto Strategic Professional.

How long does the BSc take to complete?

The programme will take students approximately 12 months to complete.

This gives students time to complete the two 30-credit modules that align to ACCA's Performance Management and Financial Management exams and the 60-credit Project Module that is required to obtain the degree.

The University of London has a maximum registration period of 3 years for students to complete the programme.

We can confirm that there will be exams for the Financial Management and Performance Management BSc modules. These will be computer-based and can be completed at the University's registered exam centres or through remote invigilation. The Project Module must be completed alongside these modules.

What happens if a student on the BSc fails any element of the programme?

If a student fails an assessment with the University then they will need to follow university regulations in respect of retaking the module / assessment. The University will provide further guidance in respect of this process as part of their student handbook / guidance.

If a student is not successful on the programme and withdraws without gaining the exemptions available for ACCA's FM and/or PM exam, they will are able to continue their ACCA journey and simply take those exams with ACCA once they are no longer on the programme.

Should a student withdraw from the programme having passed either or both of the programme modules which provide exemptions for ACCA's FM/PM exams, they will still receive the exemptions on their ACCA student record.

Impact on ACCA Qualification FAQs

Will students be able to continue taking ACCA exams whilst on the programme?

We would not recommend that students take any ACCA Qualification exams whilst studying for the BSc. Ideally, students will plan their ACCA exam journey so that they can benefit from the time and cost savings available from the alignment of our Financial Management (FM) and Performance Management (PM) exams and the BSc modules.

Once on the programme, students are required to complete the Financial Management and Performance Management modules aligned to ACCA's exams of the same name. As part of our progression rules, students cannot progress to the Strategic Professional exams until they have successfully completed these modules and the exemptions have been added to their student profile.

If a student has already completed the Applied Skills exams and then chooses to enrol for the BSc, we would still not recommend that they take Strategic Professional exams alongside the BSc due to the workload they would be taking on.

Can a student book ACCA's Financial Management and/or Performance Management exam whilst studying for the BSc

We would recommend ACCA students who are considering taking the BSc programme not to complete ACCA's Performance Management and Financial Management exams in advance of studying for the BSc.

By completing the BSc, the student will gain exemptions for these exams, which will automatically be applied to their student account at no additional cost. Once completed, this will mean they have completed the Applied Skills level and can progress to ACCA’s Strategic Professional level.

On completion of the programme modules that provide exemptions for the Financial Management (FM) and Performance Management (PM) exams, will a student need to apply and pay for the exemptions (if appropriate)?

No, the student's record will be automatically updated by ACCA without a requirement for the student to apply or pay for these exemptions.

Following successful completion of the modules that provide exemptions for the FM and PM exams, the University of London will inform ACCA and the student record will subsequently be updated. We will endeavour to carry out this process as quickly as possible to ensure students are able to continue their ACCA student journey without any unnecessary delays.
