Introduction to Creating Value Through Governance – Towards a New Accountability: A Consultation

This video introduces a consultation paper launched in March 2014 by ACCA called Creating Value Through Governance – Towards a New Accountability: A Consultation. The paper takes a wide ranging and critical look at how corporate governance and risk management are practiced, it  finds that neither are doing as well as they should in helping organisations to create value – in the widest sense of the word. The paper asks many questions. As it is a consultation, it offers few solutions, but it does argue that the purpose of governance should be to ensure organisations create sustainable value. It also suggests a new accountability framework that could help ensure that governance and risk management practices are more efficacious.

The authors discuss Creating Value Through Governance – Towards a New Accountability: A Consultation

The authors of the paper, Adrian Berendt, chair of ACCA Global Governance, Risk and Performance Forum and Paul Moxey,  ACCA head of corporate governance and risk management, discuss the consultation on creating value through governance. They talk about the problems that the paper is trying to address and the suggested accountability framework, they discuss the key questions and outline the recommendations.
