How did you come to be in Internal Audit?

I graduated in Business & Accountancy and initially sought roles as an accountant; however, one particular role was already filled and the in-house recruiter asked if he could pass my CV along to a friend, well what was there to lose? After a rather grilling recruitment process so began my life as an internal auditor (secretly thinking “What’s one of them!?”) with a FTSE multinational company.  Planned? Not exactly.  Chosen? Kind of. Enjoyed? Definitely.

What do you enjoy about the role or what do you enjoy about being an internal auditor?

For me the enjoyment and interest has always come from the variety and challenges the role offers; the old cliché no two days are the same, is definitely true.  Meeting a wide variety of people, gaining wide organisational exposure and understanding, building relationships and helping to make the organisation stronger through effective governance, risk management and improved control; what’s not to enjoy?
