Session overview

Implementing systems is a challenging task and is often time-consuming and resource intense. How do you manage such a major project? Who needs to be involved? How do you successfully implement a new system and manage change among staff?

Speaker

Graham Hand, consultant, Newgrange Developments

Graham started his working life as an engineer, specialising in robotics and industrial automation. Recognising the need to bring the engineering disciplines of project and release management into IT, Graham moved across to IT project management in the mid 1990’s.

Soon after this move Graham became a freelance project manager and realised that there was a niche in selling himself as a recovery project manager, specialising in delivering projects that were at risk of failure. Since then, and for over 20 years, Graham has successfully delivered a range of large IT and business change programmes across a wide range of industries. During this time Graham has gained a wealth of experience in understanding why programmes sometimes fail and what can be done to ensure their success.

In the last 5 years Graham has spotted similar patterns of organisational risk in the ever-changing field of cyber security and has specialised in delivering cyber security solutions for a number of large clients.

Graham is a Fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS), holds a Masters Degree in Risk, Disaster and Emergency Planning management, as well as professional qualifications including Prince 2 Practitioner, BCS Certification in Information Security and National Cyber Security Centre accreditation.
