On 11 October 2022, ACCA, Accountancy Europe, SMEunited and IFAC, held, under the auspices of the Czech Presidency of the European Union, a lively webinar discussion on how decision makers, standard-setters, regulators, enforcers, and stakeholders can guide SMEs, and help create more effective, cost-efficient and tailored anti-corruption & bribery approaches. The event was joined by 248 “live” participants.

A welcoming speech by Oliver Boutellis-Taft, CEO, Accountancy Europe, was followed by keynote speeches from MEP Ondrej Kovařík and Nicolas Pinaud, Deputy Director, OECD Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs. The panel discussion was moderated by Scott Hanson, Director of Policy and Global Engagement at IFAC. He was joined by Ute Stiegel, Head of Unit, Enforcement, Transparency and Rule of Law Monitoring, DG HOME, European Commission, Jason Piper, head of Business Law and Tax, ACCA, Philippe de Koster, President, CTIF-CFI, Luc Hendrickx, Director Legal Affairs & Enterprise policy, SMEunited. Matej Blažek, Senior Ministerial Counsellor in the Conflict of Interests and Anti-Corruption Department of the Czech Ministry of Justice, representing the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU, gave concluding remarks. The session was closed by Johan Barros, Manager, Accountancy Europe and Cécile Bonino, Head of EU Affairs, ACCA.
