This full-day course will examine some of the key proposals contained in the FRC’s Exposure Draft on their periodic review of UK and Ireland GAAP, including:

  • On-balance sheet lease accounting
  • Revenue recognition
  • Reporting for small entities under FRS 102, Section 1A Small Entities

In addition, the course will look at some of the most common technically challenging areas of FRS 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland and FRS 105 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable to the Micro-entities Regime, including:

  • Recognition and measurement of financial instruments
  • Deferred tax
  • Accounting for property revaluations
  • Reporting on going concern
  • Related parties
  • Accounting for pension contributions
  • Assessing materiality for non-audit assignments
  • Dealing with provisions and contingencies
  • Post-balance sheet events

This course will use worked examples to bring to life the theory contained in the accounting standards and will highlight the difficulties often faced by preparers in these technical areas.
