About ACCA Public Affairs in Eurasia

ACCA has supported the accountancy profession in Eurasia for over a decade with a physical presence in Almaty, Kazakhstan, since 2013.  ACCA Eurasia Public Affairs spans Central Asia and the South Caucasus, as well as Mongolia and Turkey. Regionally, ACCA closely works with governments, regulators, professional accountancy organisations, universities and employers to provide high-quality professional accountancy education and exciting career opportunities to existing and aspiring accountancy professionals, assist regulators in establishing modern and robust accountancy regulatory frameworks, support implementation of international accounting and audit standards and upskill public sector finance functions.

Our work in Eurasia focuses on the following priorities:

ACCA has significant experience in adopting and implementing international standards in financial reporting, accounting, auditing, public sector accounting, ethics and education - undertaking activities that shape the profession, acting as a trusted advisor and partner to governments in Eurasia and supporting insights and future thinking around the shape of the profession. Our diverse capabilities include implementation of IFRS, International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and International Auditing Standards. Together with our partners, we support standards implementation at a strategic, governmental and institutional level, to build the skills and knowledge of finance professionals to enhance and strengthen financial and corporate reporting.

Through the design and delivery of accountancy qualifications and continuing professional development schemes, we help education institutions, employers and PAOs develop and deliver the highest quality accountancy education solutions to their audiences. We offer opportunities to accountancy professionals to experience a rewarding career in accountancy and finance by supporting stronger tuition, the broader education environment and promoting the recognition of professional qualifications.

ACCA’s goal is to strengthen the accountancy profession by enabling PAOs around the world to grow their own capacity – supporting their journey to being sustainable and successful organisations that serve their stakeholders and strengthen the accountancy profession in their jurisdiction.

Supporting stronger public financial management, professionalisation of public-sector finance, and the adoption and implementation of international good practice.

International public sector accounting standards (IPSAS) enhance transparency, accountability, and increase the quality of financial reporting within the public sector and we advocate for its adoption and implementation throughout the region.

Supporting the development and implementation of high-quality, internationally aligned sustainability reporting and assurance framework. ACCA’s contributions to the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) have been critical in developing the globally recognised, thorough sustainability standards. ACCA has been directly involved in capacity building to implement IFRS S1 and S2 standards, particularly across Eurasia, where, with our partners, we support standards implementation to build the skills and knowledge of finance professionals, which enhances and strengthens corporate financial and sustainability reporting.

ACCA has the largest international footprint of professional accountants in the world, working both with public and private sectors. We engage our international network of finance experts to develop high-quality research and insights spanning a wide range of topics from IFRS standards, taxation, budgeting, to AI, sustainability, risk and public financial management.
