About ACCA Public Affairs India

ACCA has a long-standing presence in India, with over 84,000 members and future members across the country. India is one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies and an increasingly important market for business, investment and talent.

Against this backdrop, ACCA is committed to supporting the development of the finance and accountancy talent in India. Through active engagement with key public affairs stakeholders, including government, regulators and trade associations, ACCA advocates for the skills and capabilities needed by the economy, contributes to policy dialogue and supports the development of current and future members.

Our Public Affairs engagement

ACCA in India actively engages with key stakeholders across various sectors, reinforcing our commitment to the public value agenda. As the trusted partner and global representative voice of the accountancy profession in India, we participate in meaningful discussions and collaborations with leading professional bodies, trade associations, regulatory bodies, and others. In line with our public value agenda, we have successfully forged partnerships with, namely:

  • Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority of India under Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India
  • The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI)
  • The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)
  • The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM)
  • The Institute of Directors (IOD)
  • UK-India Business Council (UKIBC)

among others, to demonstrate our commitment to supporting sustainable development in India and promoting a vibrant business environment, thereby contributing to the Indian economy.

Shaping policy: key developments

Policy Inputs: ACCA contributes to policy discussions in India by sharing global expertise on sustainability, AI, and skills, with our inputs regularly recognised by regulators, trade associations, and leading think tanks.

Government partnership on sustainability: In 2025, ACCA partnered with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), for the National Conference on Responsible Business Conduct 2025, India’s flagship platform on sustainability. ACCA shared global insights on sustainability reporting and led a panel on aligning India’s framework with international standards.

Regulatory input on AI: We shared our inputs with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) during the public consultation on its Framework for Responsible and Ethical Enablement of Artificial Intelligence (FREE-AI) in the financial sector, with ACCA’s contribution acknowledged in the final report.

Capacity building for regulators: ACCA delivered targeted capacity-building programmes for key public-sector stakeholders, including NFRA on the evolving role of AI in audit, and IICA under its ESG programme on the ISSB S1 and S2 standards.

ACCA partnered as the Institutional Partner for CII’s roundtable dialogue on building future-ready organisations, focused on the future of financial governance, sustainability reporting, organisational resilience, and the skills required to support India’s evolving business landscape.
