This forum brings together experts from the corporate sector, public practice and academia from around the world to debate trends and developments in business law. One of its areas of special focus is on how legal systems can achieve the right balance between encouraging entrepreneurial initiative and providing necessary protection for stakeholders and the public interest.
Accountants have long been recognised as one of the most trusted advisers to businesses, small and large, across all aspects of business activities. They are often uniquely positioned to understand the implications for the business of the wider regulatory environment, and the impact of the interaction of legal obligations arising out of the business’s form and operations.
The ACCA Global Forum for Business Law brings together expertise in fields relevant to the overriding goal of legislating to encourage enterprise, addressing the importance of appropriate legal formats to enable and promote transparency, accountability and responsible business behaviour.
The members contribute knowledge and perspectives from around the globe, bringing practical experience of the day-to-day issues arising from areas including the fight against economic crime, securities and markets regulation, corporate structuring and regulation, and general advisory practice.
The specifically local jurisdictional nature of much of the business law agenda highlights the importance of ACCA’s position as a global body, able to draw on the experience of members from around the world to compare and contrast differing approaches and feed into supranational bodies such as the OECD and the European Commission.
In addition the members’ knowledge and vision feeds into the development of ACCA’s technical research and professional insights work, shaping our contribution to the discussion around the changing role of business law in an increasingly borderless and digitalised world.
