HMRC has started sending out further updates to Pillar 2 letters in relation to international minimum global tax and UK adoption of Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Pillar 2.
HMRC has said that 'These are being issued from mid-July and represent the third Pillar 2 update in the series being issued to the impacted population – following updates that were sent in June and November last year. This is being sent to customers who we consider to be in scope of the new Multinational Top-up (MTT) and Domestic Top-up (DTT) taxes, customers who have asked to be on our mailing list and interested agents'.
Issue of the update, delayed from its original intended issue date due to the general election, is now going ahead through the following channels:
- directly to some large businesses through their customer compliance managers (CCMs), where they have one
- a bulk email to other large businesses (without a CCM) and wealthy and mid-sized business compliance (WMBC) customers that are already signed up to receive updates on Pillar 2
- via a letter going to other businesses not already signed-up to receive updates but likely to be in scope.
Copies of both the large business and WMBC versions of the letter can be downloaded on this page so that practitioners dealing with such businesses can get a sense of what the updates cover.
