This session will look at the recovery work you can undertake with your clients, and guidance on when you would need to consider other options in light of the new Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020.

Speakers

David Fleming FCCA, Duff & Phelps

David is a managing director in the Global Restructuring Advisory practice and leads the UK Advisory team, based in the Manchester office. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial sector, having spent the last 10 years focused on turnaround, performance improvement, debt advisory and stakeholder management.

Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, David held the position of finance director at a venture capital backed, Fast Track 100 Company. Earlier in his career, David undertook an 18 month secondment in a restructuring team at a global bank, helping to restructure companies during the financial crisis.

David has worked on numerous assignments for management teams, banks, asset based lenders, private equity and key financial stakeholders implementing turnaround solvent restructuring strategies to preserve value.

David is a qualified accountant and holds the CPI qualification.

Mike Lennon FCCA, Duff & Phelps

Mike Lennon is a senior director in Duff & Phelps’ Global Restructuring Advisory practice based in the Manchester office. He has over 11 years of experience in corporate restructuring and advisory.

Working within the advisory and formal restructuring teams at Duff & Phelps, Mike works with a variety of stakeholders to advise upon and execute solvent and formal restructuring alternatives.

Mike has worked on a number of high-profile assignments in the retail sector, including Jacques Vert and BHS. He also assists the purchasers of retail businesses through the full transaction cycle, including due diligence, transactional support, deal negotiation and post-acquisition transition, stabilization and integration services. Mike’s other sector experience includes automotive, construction and green energy. 

He has also been involved in a number of Independent Business and Viability Reviews (IBRs) and other solvent assignments involving cashflow management, tax arrears solutions and financial forecasting.

Mike completed a 19-month secondment as a relationship manager across the invoice finance, business restructuring and recoveries teams of a national clearing bank from 2011 to 2013.

Mike is a Chartered Certified Accountant and JIEB qualified.
