Overview

The quarterly ACCA/IMA Global Economic Conditions Survey (GECS) is the regular snapshot of the views of finance professionals on the global economy and their own business prospects.

This webinar, co-branded with Deloitte, presents the results of the latest survey, the relevant GECS Report will have been published recently. Deloitte’s chief economist Ian Stewart will also present his views on the global economic outlook. The focus will be on how the Russia-Ukraine conflict has altered global economic prospects.

Michael Taylor, ACCA’s chief economist, and Ian will discuss the prospects for developed and emerging economies and the outlook for policy over the medium term.         

Speakers

Michael Taylor

ACCA’s chief economist and authors the quarterly Global Economic Conditions Survey report. His interests include macroeconomic policy, political economy and industrial strategy. His experience covers diverse areas, such as econometric analysis, construction of lead indicators and policy formulation.  Michael has worked in numerous roles as an economist, including as an adviser to the UK government, at City institutions and economic consultancies, at a policy think tank and at the Institute of Directors, where he was chief economist. He holds a Master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics.

Ian Stewart

Partner and chief economist at Deloitte where he advises clients on macroeconomics and financial market developments. Before joining Deloitte Ian spent 12 years as chief economist for Europe at the US investment bank, Merrill Lynch in London. He previously worked as a special adviser in the UK government, as head of economics in the Conservative Party’s Research Department and as an economist with the Confederation of British Industry. Ian was educated at the London School of Economics, Birkbeck College and Queen Mary College, London.
