Ethics in action: what would you do?

Overview

As an accountant, you play a huge role as a guardian of the business world. You're responsible for making sure that businesses behave themselves, and that clients and colleagues report finances clearly and according to recognised standards. However, this role may lead you into ethically complex or ambiguous situations.

This course, using case studies and scenarios, will equip you with the necessary tools to navigate ethical dilemmas in line with the professional ethical framework you adhere to as an accountant.

This course will enable you to:

• explore the ethical principles outlined in the ethical codes of the accountancy bodies
• recognise the ways professional integrity can be challenged, and how to respond
• identify potential threats to objectivity and recognise biases in your thinking
• understand the importance of professional competence and the principles involved
• explain the significance of confidentiality and how to protect customers and clients
• acknowledge the potential pitfalls of unprofessional behaviour.
