On behalf of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Hong Kong, I would like to welcome everyone to participate in the 2024 ACCA Community Day.

This year’s ACCA Community Day holds twofold significance. Firstly, it commemorates the 120th anniversary of ACCA, prompting us to embrace the theme ‘120 Years of Impact: Towards a Sustainable Future’ to highlight ACCA's long-term commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of the global profession. Additionally, the participating rickshaw teams and cheering squads will exude joy and radiate a positive energy that embodies the spirit of love and care.

ACCA Hong Kong has consistently demonstrated its commitment to partnering with society, whether it is through fostering industry unity for community engagement, or striving for excellence in professional standards. We have spared no effort to enhance the greater environment in which we are embedded. This flagship event, ACCA Community Day, was founded by ACCA Charitable Foundation Limited in 1997. In the past 26 years, it has not only successfully raised over HK$23 million, but has also become one of the key charity events in Hong Kong, attracting hundreds of representatives from accounting firms, multinational companies, local organisations and institutions, uniting them with a common goal to help those in need.

As in previous years, in response to society’s needs, we will donate the funds raised during this year's Community Day to three beneficiary organisations: (1) Hong Kong Playground Association, (2) ImpactHK and (3) Our Hands Green Association, to support their charity projects and lend a helping hand to the disadvantaged communities.

We are living in an era that is confronted with a host of challenges and volatile market conditions. Issues such as sustainable development, technology application and continuous upskilling are paramount to the industry. As a leading force in the industry, ACCA possesses an unparalleled global network. We will continue to provide our members with world-class professional training and a comprehensive international perspective, helping them to unlock new opportunities through our global recognition and extensive community.

We are honoured that to have the presence of the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan Mo-po at the Community Day. He is not only the Guest of Honour at today's event, but also its founder as he initiated the ACCA Community Day when he was the chairman of ACCA Hong Kong. Mr Paul Chan has always supported the development of ACCA, and is a driving force behind making the Community Day the major annual event that it has become.
