Wilson Cheng, Chairman of ACCA Hong Kong

On behalf of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Hong Kong, I warmly welcome you all to the 2026 ACCA Community Day.

This event is more than a tradition – it is a force for good in Hong Kong. Since its inception in 1997 by the ACCA Charitable Foundation Limited, the ACCA Community Day has united participants from accounting firms, multinational corporations, business organisations, academic institutions and various community groups. Over the years, it has raised more than HK$25 million in donations, making it one of Hong Kong’s flagship charity initiatives and a shining example of how the accounting profession embodies care, responsibility and action.

ACCA Hong Kong has always been committed to the Hong Kong community. We not only serve as the economy’s barometer but also actively lead society towards sustainable development and greater inclusion, demonstrating care and compassion.

Our care for the local community is never abstract. It is lived through moments of challenge. When the devastating fire struck Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po in November, ACCA Hong Kong, through the ACCA Charitable Foundation, acted immediately with a donation to the Government's Support Fund. This swift response was possible thanks to our compassionate community. Your generosity over the years has strengthened our Foundation with collective resources, enabling us to step forward without delay.

ACCA members are not only professionals in the business world, we are neighbours, citizens, and changemakers. Together, we stand with those in need.

This year, the ACCA Community Day is themed ‘Run ahead for our community for an inclusive future’. We hope to unite the strength of the finance and accounting sector, reflecting our continued dedication to fostering unity, compassion, and social inclusion. It provides participating organisations with the opportunity to demonstrate corporate social responsibility and inject positive energy into the community, contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable Hong Kong.

We are deeply honoured to have Mr Paul Chan Mo-po as Guest of Honour. When Mr Chan served as Chairman of ACCA Hong Kong in 1996-97, he founded this event, encouraging the profession to demonstrate corporate social responsibility through concrete action, and laying an important foundation for the accounting sector’s contribution to public good and social inclusion. We are proud to carry this legacy forward.

With a proud history spanning more than 75 years, ACCA Hong Kong has consistently stood alongside Hong Kong in times of change and challenge. Whether facing financial crises, social transformations, technological revolutions or global uncertainties, we have embraced resilience, innovation and foresight. ACCA brings unique value to Hong Kong as a leading global professional accountancy body. With a strong network across 180 countries, ACCA combines a global perspective with local grounding, driving sustainable development through innovative thinking, professional exchange and globally-recognised qualifications. Together, we are creating new opportunities for finance and accountancy professionals to thrive in this new era.

This year's proceeds will benefit three organisations: (1) Crossroads Foundation, (2) Hong Kong New Arrivals Services Foundation Limited, and (3) Unleash Foundation, supporting their charitable initiatives.

I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to all sponsors, as well as advertising sponsors, rickshaw teams and all donors. Your generosity ensures that the spirit of care continues to flourish.

I wish every participant an enjoyable and fulfilling experience, running with enthusiasm and bringing the positive energy gained today back to your work and daily life, sharing the spirit of care with those around you. ACCA will continue to uphold its social responsibility, working hand in hand with all sectors to advance inclusion and sustainable development, creating a better future for Hong Kong, for our profession, and for the next generation.

Let’s run ahead, give back, and make a positive impact in the place we proudly call home.

Wilson Cheng
