Technology is increasingly helping auditors produce high-quality audits. Recent advancements in off-the-shelf solutions mean there is significant potential for smaller audit firms to compete with the large. Fiona Narielwalla, Partner, BDO Australia
Fiona is a partner in the Sydney audit & assurance team, with over 25 years’ experience in global, technical and client-facing roles in the US, New Zealand and Australia. Prior to BDO, Fiona focused on the adoption of next-generation audit solutions to enhance audit quality and drive efficiency.

Angelo Giardina, Principal, IAASB
Angelo Giardina joined the IAASB in 2023, initially to focus on the fraud and technology projects. Prior to this, Angelo was at the Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB). As head of CPAB's thought leadership group, he contributed to developing CPAB perspectives on audit-quality topics including the auditor’s role in detecting and responding to fraud in financial statement audits, the benefits and challenges of using technology in audits, and good practices when auditing crypto-assets.

Masood Mehmood FCCA, Senior Policy Advocate – Reporting & Assurance, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand
Masood is an experienced audit professional having worked in audit, assurance and advisory services within commercial, public sectors and in senior positions at KPMG and Deloitte. He is a fellow of ACCA and CA ANZ. His specialist areas include AAS, IFRS and International Standards on Auditing, for complex public and private sectors.

Antonis Diolas, Head of Audit and Assurance, ACCA
A member of ACCA’s Policy and Insights team, Antonis engages at local and international level with key organisations - including, BEIS, IAASB and Accountancy Europe - ensuring ACCA’s voice is heard. He also researches and publishes ACCA’s insights on audit and assurance topics. Previously, Antonis had extensive audit experience across different countries and industries, including at EY in London and the Channel Islands, and KPMG Cyprus.
