Using AI in financial modeling: what you need to know today

In this interactive session, Ian Schnoor, executive director of Financial Modeling Institute, cuts through the hype to explore where AI genuinely enhances productivity in financial modeling and how to integrate it thoughtfully into day-to-day practice.

Overview

AI

Claude and Copilot can write formulas, generate analyses, and build financial models. But knowing what to do with those outputs, and when to question them, is where the real skill now lies.

Drawing on Financial Modeling Institute's work with finance leaders worldwide and its partnership with Microsoft on Copilot in Excel, Ian will walk through real examples of AI in the modeling workflow, including where it speeds things up and where it introduces risk that only human judgment can catch. Expect practical scenarios, live audience Q&A, and takeaways finance professionals can put to use immediately.

What you'll learn:

  • What AI can (and can't) do in financial modeling
  • The risks of AI-generated models and how to manage them
  • Why the human skills around AI are now your competitive edge
