An Overview of IFRS 18 – the New Presentation and Disclosure Requirements

One of the four webinars covered in ACCA Hong Kong Accounting Updates Series 2024

Overview

Business landscape

In April 2024, the International Accounting Standards Board issued IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements, which is effective for annual periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027. IFRS 18 replaces IAS 1 Presentation of Financial Statements and introduces a number of new requirements to improve entities’ reporting of financial performance and give investors a better basis for analysing and comparing entities. The changes introduced by IFRS 18 will affect how entities present and disclose information in the financial statements, the information available to investors, and the extent of information subject to assurance by auditors. This webinar provides an overview of IFRS 18 and cover the key aspects of the new requirements of IFRS 18.

The webinar will cover the following:

  • Overview of IFRS 18 requirements
  • Major changes brought by IFRS 18
    • Specified categories and defined subtotals
    • Management-defined performance measures
    • Aggregation and disaggregation
  • Other consequential amendments
  • Transitions
