Sessions and more information

Pro-bono non-executive roles explained: Starting a NED career with a voluntary board role

Pro bono board roles are a common pathway to gain board exposure. This webinar, designed exclusively for ACCA members, will focus on the pro bono board roles most relevant to qualified accountants.

Drawing on NEDonBoard’s work with first-time non-executive directors and board members, we will explore how governance standards apply in voluntary settings, and why structured preparation and training are essential, even when the role is unpaid.

This session will help ACCA members assess opportunities realistically, avoid common misconceptions, and approach pro bono board roles with professionalism.

From pro-bono to paid NED roles: Turning voluntary board experience into an attractive NED proposition

Serving on a pro bono board can be a powerful foundation for a non-executive career, but only when the experience is relevant, well-structured, and clearly articulated.

This webinar, delivered exclusively for ACCA members, will focus on how trustee, governor and member-led board experience is a stepping stone for many professionals. The session will include case studies. You will leave with a clearer understanding of how to start a non-executive career strategically.

Is now the right time? What to consider before transitioning into a non-executive director role

Moving into a non-executive director role is typically not simply a career extension: it is a fundamental shift in responsibility, mindset and accountability. For qualified accountants, technical expertise alone is rarely sufficient to succeed in a first NED appointment.

This webinar, delivered exclusively for ACCA members, focuses on how to assess personal readiness before pursuing a non-executive role, drawing on NEDonBoard’s experience supporting aspiring and first-time NEDs across sectors.

Your first board meetings: What new non-executive directors should expect

The first few board meetings set the tone for a non-executive director’s effectiveness, credibility, and long-term impact. Yet many first-time NEDs step into the boardroom without a clear understanding of what the first 90 days will look like in practice.

This webinar is designed to help ACCA members envisage the reality of their first board appointment and prepare for the transition to the non-executive environment.
