This webinar will provide an update on the Chinese Mainland’s recent tax and transfer pricing dispute trends, highlight practical lessons from recent cases, and discuss proactive strategies to manage controversy risks, including the use of Advance Pricing Arrangements (APAs) and Mutual Agreement Procedures (MAPs) to enhance tax certainty.

Monica Leung, Partner, International Tax and Transaction Services - Transfer Pricing, Greater China, EY

Monica Leung is a Partner of EY’s Greater China transfer pricing practice with more than 16 years of experience in transfer pricing.

Monica has deep experience in advising and collaborating with publicly listed companies, privately owned companies, portfolio companies and start-ups. Her industry portfolio covers infrastructure and hospitality, consumer products, luxury products, telecommunications, utilities, among others.

Monica advises on a broad spectrum of transfer pricing projects, including transaction restructuring, policy design and implementation, multi-jurisdictional documentations, application and negotiation of advance pricing agreements, transfer pricing audit defense as well as IPO support.

She is a frequent speaker at trainings and seminars organised by EY, accounting associations, chambers and interest groups. She is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Louis Kwong, Director, International Tax and Transaction Services, EY

Louis Kwong has over 13 years of specialised experience in Chinese Mainland's tax and cross-border M&A advisory, supporting private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds and multinational corporations on complex tax structuring, internal restructurings, M&A advisory (including both buy‑side and sell‑side due diligence) and tax health checks.

Louis has led numerous large‑scale M&A and restructuring projects for private equity funds and multinational groups across a wide range of industries, including crypto and digital assets, real estate, consumer and industrial products, telecommunications and mobile entertainment. He is experienced in managing complex regional / pan-Asia tax structuring mitigating tax risks while optimising overall tax efficiencies. He has also advised on and supported in China tax reporting and compliance procedures for indirect acquisitions of Chinese equity interests and cross‑border restructurings.

Louis is a licensed certified public accountant by the Washington State Board of Accountancy and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
