Getting ready for your exemptions application
If you're about to register as a student and you want to apply for exam exemptions, use this guide to prepare.
There's a fee for each exam that you're exempt from, if you want to claim your exemptions.
When you register as an ACCA student, you'll need to pay for any exemptions you're awarded and also your student registration fee.
After you become a student and your exemptions have been awarded, you will have 30 calendar days to pay for them before they become overdue. At this time you will be unable to enter for exams until you have paid your outstanding balance.
If you have part-completed a qualification, you may still be able to claim some exemptions depending on the level of the qualification and how much of the qualification you have completed.
You can submit your enquiry when you register as an ACCA student. But first you need to get your documents ready to send to us.
If you want to apply for exemptions, we'll need some documents from you. These need to detail what you've studied; where you studied; and what results you achieved.
As applications are online, we'll need documents that you can upload when you register.
We'll need proof of identity, which must include your date of birth, such as your:
- driver's licence; or
- national identification card; or
- passport; or
- birth certificate
Your qualification documents must:
- name your qualification(s)
- be signed and stamped by the awarding institution/body (including logo)
- include transcripts/marksheets detailing the subjects/module codes and the marks achieved
- show date of completion for full academic award or confirmation of years successfully completed
- your award certificate(s) and/or an official letter confirming completion
If you have changed your name after obtaining your qualification documentation please submit a copy of an official document for this change
As some of your documents are not in English, we need an official translated copy of them.
Documents must be translated and stamped by a licensed translator who is authorised and qualified to provide translation services.
Important documents note
We need copies of both the original language version and translated English documents.
So your application is as easy as possible, check that you:
- have copies of all your qualification documents
- have official translations of your documents that are not in English
- have your proof of identification
- are ready to pay for your student registration
Got everything you need? Then it's time to register as a student.
If you've calculated your exemptions and have your documents, it's time to register as a student.
You can apply for your exemptions as part of the registration process.
You'll need to upload your documents, so make sure you have them ready.
You'll also need proof of your identity, such as a driver's licence or passport.
Initial applications are processed within 5 days. We'll email you if we need more details to process your application.
If your situation changes
If you want to change the way you submit your exemptions enquiry, return to the question page to start again. You can get guidance relevant to your situation if you answer the questions differently.
Alternatively, return to the Exam exemptions page.
