Technical factsheet: the money-laundering reporting officer

The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) requires the appointment of a “nominated officer” to ensure that information leading to knowledge or suspicion of money laundering is disclosed appropriately to the authorities. All firms of practising accountants must appoint a nominated officer – most often referred to as the MLRO.
