Programme structure and assessment.

To complete the BSc Professional Accountancy programme you will be required to successfully complete two modules aligned to ACCA’s Performance Management and Financial Management exams and a Project Module.

Structure

The BSc Professional Accountancy degree is made up of two 30-credit point modules (aligned to ACCA’s Performance Management and Financial Management exams) and a 60-credit point Project Module.

Financial Management Module (30 credits - 16 week teaching block) 

Gain advanced knowledge of financial management issues within modern corporations. You’ll learn to justify and make efficient decisions on financing, investments, valuation, and risk.

Performance Management (30 credits - 16 week teaching block) 

Learn how to use various accounting techniques and evaluate their strengths and limitations. You’ll extend your knowledge of crucial areas like budgeting, planning and control, and performance evaluation, gaining the skills you need to contribute meaningfully to organisational strategy. 

Project Module (60 credits - runs over two teaching sessions)  

Delve into specialist interests by identifying an issue, conducting guided in-depth individual research and effectively communicating your findings. You’ll be introduced to a range of research methods and methodologies relevant to the accounting field and contribute to academic and professional practice literature.

Duration

You can complete the programme in 1 year, however if your prefer to study more flexibly you'll have upto 3 years to complete the BSc.

For those who would like to complete the programme in 1 year

You will be able to register for the Performance Management module and the Project module starting in the March 2026 session. You can then register for the Financial Management module starting in the September 2026 session and continue completing your Project Module during this time.

For those who prefer to study more flexibly

If you are not planning on completing within the minimum registration period, we would advise you to register on the Performance Management module first; then register on the Financial Management and the Project module in subsequent sessions.

Teaching

The University of London provide all teaching and learning support for the programme. You can choose from one of the two approved study options they make available for the BSc:

1. The university’s online learning offering

2. It is expected that students in selected locations will be able to attend face-to-face tuition at one of the university's Recognised Teaching Centres. These will be made available as and when these centres have been confirmed.

Assessment

The design and delivery of assessments is carried out by the University of London. The overall classification for the BSc will be solely determined on your performance on the three modules completed on the programme in accordance with the university’s regulations.

Financial Management and Performance Management modules

To successfully complete the Financial Management and Performance Management modules students will need to pass an end of module exam. These exams are computer-based and can be taken at any of the university’s registered exam centres or by a remotely invigilated exam.

Project Module

To successfully complete the Project Module you will need to achieve the pass mark for your project submission. Further details of design and delivery of the assessments will be available from University of London in due course.

Award

Once you have successfully completed all of the modules you will be awarded the BSc Professional Accountancy (Hons) degree.

Exemptions from ACCA exams

Completing the two exam modules will also qualify you for exemptions from ACCA’s Performance Management (PM) and Financial Management (FM) exams.
